5 ways to boost your child's imagination

'Let's pretend' games aren't just child's play. Experts now believe creativity is just as important as intelligence in achieving success at school and beyond. So to celebrate the exclusive toy launch at Tesco of Little Charley Bear – the curious little teddy who loves make-believe – here's a top tip for developing your child's imagination:

Encourage role play

All children love to dress up and act out different scenarios, and whenever they do, their brains get a boost. Playing hospitals with a doctor's kit, setting up a café with play food, or dressing up as a police officer to 'rescue' their toys, lets your child find out about the big wide world in a safe, comforting way. If there are other children around to join in the game, so much the better: your child will get to hone their negotiating and turn-taking skills. If not, then dolls, soft toys like Little Charley Bear, or imaginary friends make great substitutes, and give your child a chance to be in control of the action.
